AB5k: Java-based Widgets From Google
Under the guise of the AB5k project, Google have introduced a Java-based developer platform and some sample widgets. Haven’t looked too deeply into the details but it seems to be comparable with the offerings from Apple Dashboard and Yahoo Widgets. Requires Java 6.

Animate a Web Site
Use the code linked into post to “Make Google Go Crazy” — works with amazon, flickr and others. No, it doesn’t do anything malicious to the web site.

Amiga Workbench in AJAX
Now this takes me back: someone has created a simulation of the Amiga GUI in Javascript and DHTML. It was fun to see ‘eyes’ and ‘juggler’ again. The Amiga was my second computer (after the Commodore 64, of course).
Man, was Amiga way ahead of their time.

Adobe To Host Online Version of Photoshop
Now this is an interesting development. Within the next six months Adobe will have an online version of its cash cow Photoshop. There are already a number of smaller players providing basic photo editing online like fauxto, picnik, preloadr and pixenate. It will be interesting to see how the online editing ecosystem changes when Adobe launches their offering.
